The next year is just around the corner and with it a lot of PC games. I have my eye on first person shooters, strategy games, horror titles and other genres. Below is my pick of the most anticipated PC Invasion games in 2022.
Granted, some of these were supposed to be out this year, but they’ve been delayed due to the pandemic. I hope that they will finally be released in the coming months. You can also take a look at my games of the year 2021 if you are interested.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human
So if we go in chronological order Dying Light 2 Stay Human leads the pack due to its February 4th release date. My wife and I absolutely loved the original (she’s a big fan of horror games, especially the ones with zombies). So we definitely want to see what’s in store.
We look forward to huge environments and an open world full of terrifying creatures. Maybe we’ll even play some co-op. God knows my old rig is already gathering dust.
Total War: Warhammer III
A few weeks later dying light 2 come out, we’ll see Total War: Warhammer III on February 17th. This rounds out the trilogy, adding factions like Kislev, Cathay, and the Ogre Kingdoms. There are even four Daemons of Chaos armies.
Anyway, I made no secret of my love warhammer-related stuff. I also reported on various DLCs, such as The Twisted & The Twilight and The silence and the anger. Let’s just say that Total War: Warhammer III is something that will glue me to my seat. And yes, I pray to the Great Horned Rat that we can finally play as Thanquol in the campaign.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen
February is definitely the busiest month in the coming year. We’ll see on February 22nd Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. This major expansion pits Guardians against Savathun and the Hive, now imbued with twisted powers that emanate from the Light.
to be fair destiny 2 is a very tricky game that you really need to invest a lot of time in. Nevertheless, I keep my fingers crossed The Witch Queensimilar to Season of the Lostis preloaded with lots of content to satisfy me.
You know what? There’s a good chance I won’t see sunlight in February. Just before the end of the month, on February 25th, we have it elden ring. This dark fantasy game is one of the most anticipated releases of 2022, and with good reason. It’s developed by FromSoftware, so you can look forward to punishing boss fights, well-hidden secrets, and visceral combat. Likewise, George RR Martin helped with the mythology and world-building aspects of the game.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok
After completion Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of ParisI’m excited for Eivor’s next adventure in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok. It will be released on March 10th.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the last few games have sparked my interest in the re-ignited Assassin’s Creed Franchise for embracing the fantasy and mythology settings. So an expansion where Eivor accepts his/her identity as Odin while facing challenges at the end of the world sounds right up my alley. I also look forward to crossover stories, if any, just for a chance to revisit fan-favorites.
Let’s get that out of the way: WWE2K20 was cruel. So why am I excited for another game in the series? Well, it’s primarily because we know how WWE2K21 was cancelled, so Visual Concepts instead focused on the next title (coming out in March 2022).
I’m curious to see if the studio has managed to learn from the lessons of the past. Also, I still love pro wrestling video games and still want to do more CAW (Create-a-Wrestler) athletes. Admittedly, I’m also worried that we could end up with a badly depleted roster due to the cuts we’ve had over the past few months.
Stray plays a cat who embarks on an adventure in a futuristic world. What else needs to be said? It’s a cat game and will be released in early 2022.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil Inside
I have covered the titles that are part of The Anthology of Dark Pictures. These include man from Medan, A little bit of hopeand last house of ashes. Every horror game in the franchise uses a historical event or spooky legend as a setting, followed by a twist. You must then make the right decisions and pass Quick Time Events (QTEs) to ensure everyone survives.
The chances are good the devil in me will be released in October 2022, just in time for Halloween. In addition, we may see our own version of HH Holmes, the serial killer nicknamed ‘The Devil in the White City’ and the hotel referred to as ‘Murder Castle’. You will even notice it Saw Mood from the trailer.
starfield is being touted as Bethesda’s first new universe in 25 years. I played (and loved) The Elder Scrolls and Stand out series and I can’t wait for it to launch on November 11th. This sci-fi RPG will in all likelihood cause me to lose countless hours.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
vermin and its sequel became big hits. In 2022 we will see the next iteration – dark tide – which is set in the Warhammer 40,000 or 40K Universe. It will feature frantic first-person action and four-player co-op. Your characters will face off against hordes of Nurgle’s followers in the underworld of a Hive City.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2
Space Marine 2 is another game set in Grimdark Warhammer 40K Universe. The original game came out a decade ago, and this sequel marks the return of Captain Titus. He survived and is now supported by Primaris Marines. And yes, you will also fight countless Tyranids.
By the way, since this is the third major warhammer-related title expected to launch next year, I’m honestly expecting one warhammer movie too. Perhaps it ends with Henry Cavill portraying Neoth/the God Emperor of Mankind (if it is one 40K film) or Kaiser Karl Franz (if there is a fantasy Movie). Either way, you can toss the Emprah a coin!
Genshin Impact – The Sumeru update
Genshin Impact is already one of my games of 2021, and it’s still on my list of most anticipated games of 2022. This has really become my go-to, and not just because I’ve written a lot of guides. It’s all down to how miHoYo managed to create a vibrant world filled with majestic landscapes, unforgettable characters, and plenty of mysteries. The first two regions, Mondstadt and Liyue, were available from the start. Meanwhile, parts of the Inazuma region were released in later updates.
In 2022, we’ll be heading to the new continent of Sumeru, which is expected to have a Southeast Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern aesthetic. It could be released in pieces, much like Inazuma. Alternatively, we could visit smaller areas first, similar to Dragonspine and the Golden Apple Archipelago, before venturing onto the continent proper.
Company of Heroes 3
It’s been a while since I last played Company of Heroes Games and that’s what I’m aiming for. Company of Heroes 3 takes place in the Mediterranean theater of World War II. You can bet it takes a lot of strategy and planning as your squads attempt to defeat opposing forces in order to conquer territories.
Sniper Elite 5
Speaking of World War II, Sniper Elite 5 brings the series to France. It’s 1944 and the Allies are about to breach Hitler’s Atlantic Wall. Sinister plans abound and Karl Fairburne must help the French resistance or the landings will fail utterly. Yes, I definitely want those vicious sniper kill cam sequences.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
This sequel to the 2004 bloodlines Game makes me drool at the thought of another world of darkness RPG, especially with Paradox Interactive at the helm. To be honest, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, which came out in February 2021, left me very disappointed. The Visual Novel Games, Coteries of New York and Shadow of New York, flew under my radar and I have yet to play it. As for swan song, I’m not that keen on it. So yes, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is the one that piqued my interest.
Honorable Mentions: Early Access Games – Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Walheim
Mount & Blade II: Banner Lord, Baldur’s Gate 3and Walheim were released as Early Access titles in March 2020, October 2020 and February 2021 respectively. I covered these when they first came out. Although playable, many features and functions remain incomplete. I have my fingers crossed that they will eventually fully launch in 2022.
Well, these are my most anticipated games of 2022. I may have forgotten others, but these should do for now. Hopefully we’ll see all of these in the coming months. Happy Holidays folks!
